2 Royal College of Art graduate James Maclachlan has won the Thomas Lyte Modern Heritage Award, in association with the Crafts Council, with his ‘splatter’ vessel. The two runners-up were Louise Chesshire’s silver vase, and Sian Matthews’ silver champagne bucket (below right).

3 Swedish toy manufacturer Brio’s new range, designed by Pia Wallén, launches in the UK today. It will be sold at Skandium’s two central London stores, as well as at its new concession in Selfridges on Oxford Street, W1.

4 Zip is responsible for both the art direction and the artwork on Tom Jones’ new album 24 Hours, which will be released in the UK on 17 November.
