Together creates launch materials for updated OUP primary school book range

Together Design has created launch materials for new editions of Oxford Reading Tree, a book range from Oxford University Press for primary schools.

The consultancy has been working on the project since June, and created a new tagline, ’Tried and tested, loved and trusted’. It collaborated with illustrator Alex Brychta and the publisher’s in-house design team, which created the new tree logo.

Heidi Lightfoot, creative director at Together, says, ’Whereas the books are designed with children in mind, the key for us has been to capture the attention of teachers, alerting them to the benefits of the new editions.’

Together also designed the catalogue cover and order form, and produced a concertina-style leaflet (pictured) for teachers, using bright colours and character illustrations. Top-line messages written by Together’s writer Maf Bishop are displayed as dialogue spoken by the characters.

Kate Kunac Tabinor, OUP’s head of schoolbook design, says, ’Together has helped us to bring to life the Oxford Reading Tree in fun marketing communications materials with a modern twist.’

The new range will be published next January, with more than 100 new titles and a phonics programme featuring established characters Biff, Chip, Kipper and Floppy.
