Hamilton consults at Hutchison Whampoa

Wolff Olins executive creative director Doug Hamilton is to work directly for the consultancy’s long-term client, Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa. He will take a consultant role and remain executive creative director and a partner at Wolff Olins.

The move is in response to Hutchison’s expanding brand portfolio which includes Internet portal tom.com and POWWOW, a UK water cooler company.

A Wolff Olins spokeswoman says Hamilton will develop a “closer working relationship” with Hutchison Whampoa and spend a “significant amount of time on Hutchison Whampoa-related projects”. She says the role is a natural extension of a long-standing relationship with the client but could not confirm how Hamilton’s role will be split in terms of time management.

Hamilton will continue to work closely with other Wolff Olins creative directors – Paul Townsin, David Marchant, Robbie Laughton and Lee Coomber.

Hutchison Whampoa’s interests include hotels, catering, container posts and e-commerce.
