Stepek has a taste of Blue Peach

Scottish electronics, household and travel retailer Stepek has appointed Blue Peach to create all its promotional literature, point-of-sale material, direct mail and advertising. The consultancy won a paid creative pitch.

Stepek has built up a chain of 22 community-based shops in central and west Scotland, nine of which include Stepek Travel in-store, since its establishment in 1951 by Polish-born Jan Stepek. The family-owned company now aims to roll out stores to every community in the UK.

Expansion is likely to start early next year, depending on finding suitable locations, with a new branch scheduled to open every two months.

It has not been decided if the Glasgow group’s work will extend into retail formats, though Blue Peach director Gordon McBride is confident they will be appointed nearer the time.

“Stepek is a pretty forward-thinking company. They don’t compete with the bigger chains, but they have a market of their own which customers need.

“We will be creating a community atmosphere in the things we are currently working on and hoping it develops [into retail work],” says McBride.

Stepek managing director Paul Stepek adds: “We make every effort to meet the needs of our type of customer and Blue Peach has some fantastic ideas to help us achieve our aims.”

Blue Peach’s clients include Scottish Power, Scottish Enterprise and Morrison Bowmore Whisky.
