McGovern takes over at Land Rover

Land Rover design director Geoff Upex is to retire at the end of the year. He will be replaced by Gerry McGovern, currently director for advanced design, who takes over the design director role immediately.

Upex has been a Land Rover employee for 23 years. He will stay at the Ford-owned company until the end of the year to work alongside McGovern and to oversee the launch of products such as the Freelander 2/LR 2.
