Peterborough picks Cottier & Sidaway route

Bedfordshire graphics group Cottier & Sidaway is rolling out the first elements of its transport branding project with the city of Peterborough this week.

The design consultancy was appointed by Peterborough City Council at the end of November 2004 to design the branding and communication materials for its credentials as a Sustainable Travel Demonstration Town. This is part of a £10m Government initiative.

The five-year project will see Peterborough piloting a scheme to raise awareness of eco-friendly travel policies, such as car-sharing, integrated timetables and promotion of public transport.

After coming up with a snappier name for the sustainability project – Travelchoice – Cottier & Sidaway creative director Tim Sidaway says the consultancy then created a first round of posters and leaflets to inform the public, as well as a photo library.

The next phase of the scheme will see a concerted focus on alternative forms of transport such as walking and cycling promotions, adds Sidaway.
