Arrival nears for Eurostar revamp

The first fruits of Philippe Starck’s design work for Eurostar will be unveiled by the end of year in the form of passenger lounges in London, Paris and Brussels.

External consultancies were expected to be appointed to work with Starck on train and terminal interiors (DW 21 June 2001). However, due to time constraints and a tight schedule, none will be made, says Philippe Starck design manager Thierry Gaugain.

Two unnamed consultancies have been appointed to design staff uniforms and graphics for the cross-channel train service.

Starck’s next project will be the refurbishment of the entire fleet, which is scheduled for completion in ‘two or three years’, says Eurostar commercial executive director, Pascal Tomasso.
