Copycat fee disparity

It’s time for designers to take responsibility for their designs and resist the temptation of getting involved with “me too” own-brand packs for immoral retailers.

So we heard at the Packaging Solutions Advice Group’s debate on lookalike packaging last week. According to Interbrand’s Chris Lightfoot, designing copycat packs doesn’t even pay well. You’d only get about 2000 for that sort of job, Lightfoot suggested.

“More like 500 quid,” was the chorus of whispers from the designers in the audience. Which just goes to show why Interbrand leaves such projects for the smaller fry.
