First batch of design awards

The winners of Part One of the New Designers awards scheme have been announced, with Richard Foster from Swindon College scooping two graphics awards. Paper and packaging design awards went to Grace

Clifford, Manchester Metropolitan University; Nina Solomon, University of Brighton, School of Design; and Nicola Houghton, Staffordshire University.

Textiles, fabric and wallcoverings awards were awarded to Elaine Johnston, Glasgow School of Art; Katy Lloyd, Nottingham Trent University; Jane Carr, Winchester School of Art; Benjamin Creed, Loughborough College of Art and Design; Katie Cattran, Falmouth School of Art; and Helen Stanster, Manchester Metropolitan University.

The award for fashion was jointly shared by Kauser Issak-Mitha from De Montfort University and Nibras Alsalman from the University of West of England, Bristol.
