Sea commissioned photographer John Ross to shoot close-ups of Ted Baker haberdashery for the clothing retailer’s 1999 annual report. Images of buttons, press studs, zips and Velcro appear on a clean white background, accompanied by a sentence on the business. ‘We wanted to highlight the company’s attention to detail,’ says Sea creative director John Simpson. ‘Ted Baker brands everything it uses.’
Creative director Jenny Theolin has launched a new platform that will name studios which treat their junior employees well based on “positive” reviews, rather than a “black-list” that shames companies.
The 30 shortlisted designs for this year’s Loewe Craft Prize will go on display at the museum this May, and the overall winner will be awarded €50,000.
The shortlist of 200 illustrators has been whittled down from over 3,000 entries, and will go on display at Somerset House in June.
