Student hoping to write a penetrative dissertation

I write in response to the editor’s Comment ‘Students who put their skills into practice will stand out’ (DW 20 May).

I am studying graphic design at the Kent Institute of Art and Design. Typically, many students may write boring and predictable dissertations, but for mine, I will discuss the aesthetics of the dildo and what representations it has in society today, and why contemporary art is constantly producing more and more explicit displays of sex and double entendres.

This is neither predictable nor broad. Considering my dissertation isn’t due in for another year I am also making plenty of time for it. I agree with Design Week’s editor that many students are taking the route of broad subjects, but want her to know I will be showing my individuality.
