Crazy football draw

Would-be revellers were disappointed last week when the design industry’s Network Shield ’98 football tournament draw was cancelled, after last-minute flooding at the venue, Ryan’s Bar in London.

If that wasn’t bad enough, when the draw was eventually made, all the best teams ended up in the same group. Already dubbed the ‘group of death’, Group A comprises 1996 winners Rodney Fitch & Company and two finalists from last year’s competition, Wolff Olins and Light & Coley.

Tournament organiser Steve Cooksley says supporters are more than welcome to attend the preliminary and final rounds of the competition. These take place at Old Spitalfields Market at 7pm on 25 September and 23 October.
