More members of Design Links London – the support group for design counsellors appointed by the capital’s Business Links – are being appointed.
Coley Porter Bell chairman Colin Porter, Design Council design director Sean Blair, David Jebb & Associates chairman David Jebb and personal business advisor at Business Link London Central Lorna Dallas-Conte will all serve a two-year period as Design Links London members.
They join FM Group managing director Ben Fether, the BBC’s head of corporate and brand design Tony Key and IDEO head of design John Stoddard. IDEO’s Tim Brown, who was reported to be a group member (Design Week 12 April), was “equally invited with Stoddard, but it was felt Stoddard could give most time, so he responded”, says a Design Links London spokeswoman.
The ninth and final member of the group, headed by MPL chairman Peter Sampson, has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the Small Business Minister Richard Page has launched a 4m publicity campaign for the Business Links network. Exhibitions will be part of the promotional tools used in the campaign and the Department of Trade and Industry will be putting out a competitive tender for exhibition work to a limited list of groups. The campaign is due to kick off early in the summer and complements a 6m publicity drive by the Links at a local level.
