Virgin surveys 50m rail option

Design will be considered “this summer” for a 50m rail service between Heathrow airport and the City of London planned by Richard Branson’s Virgin Group.

“We’re still looking at the project’s feasibility. If it comes off, we’ll start to think about design,” says a Virgin spokesman.

Virgin hopes to open the line in 1998 at the same time as BAA opens its 300m Heathrow Express.
