Consultancies are just too busy to take on new people

It seems few consultancies are employing people at the moment. But, on the other hand, people are working longer hours than ever. And it’s the regular 12-hour days experienced by many designers that have to be questioned.

It’s not that the designer is incapable and should be able to do work quicker, it’s just that there is work to be done and not enough creative minds doing it. These long days can’t be good for creativity. We have people out there with new ideas, but these consultancies don’t have the time to see them.

How about a survey of working hours within the industry? That should stir things up a little.
