Edward Briscoe Design has created travel agent Thomas Cook’s stand at the Travel Zone exhibition at Midland ’97. The interactive stand is aimed at increasing brand awareness of the Thomas Cook name. It features ski simulators, a video-phone booking line and a ‘Crystal Maze’ globe where visitors can win holiday discount vouchers. Other zones at the event, which is currently taking place at Battersea Power Station in south London, deal with sport, taste, fashion and technology.

A powerful black and white illustration captures the sinister, mysterious atmosphere of classic tales by Graham Greene like The Third Man and Our Man in Havana. This, The Confidential Agent, is one of a number of illustrations by Geoff Grandfield for The Complete Entertainments of Graham Greene. The series is published by the Folio Society and has won first prize in the 1997 National Art Library Awards, sponsored by the Enid Linder Foundation.

The 2.5-second stings heralding LWT and Granada’s winter promotional trailers have been designed by Mark Gouldie of The London Studios and animated by Andy Hall and Russell Appleford of the Moving Picture Company. The colourful and eye-catching computer animations are not branded so that independent TV companies can burn in their own idents during the promotion. ‘They’ve been designed to work with any type of programme to give more flexibility in their use,’ says Mark Gouldie.
