Untrained ‘oik’ throws down the gauntlet
Mike Murphy’s letter (DW 6 November) illustrated my point completely – people can go to college as long as you like but you’re either creative or you’re not (Letters, DW 31 October).
I’m justified in calling myself a designer – whether or not I’ve had a single day’s training.
Unless I’m mistaken, John Lennon and Paul McCartney never went to music school – did neither have the right to be called a musician?
I challenge you. Set a mock design assignment for an advertisement and put an “oik” like me against any “professional” design company out there. I hear the sound of “creatives” scuffling for cover.
