Marking Design buffs Pinks & Toots

Pinks & Toots, a soon-to-launch manicure salon aimed at both men and women, has given Marking Design the task of creating its interiors and identity.

The retail design group is to produce a store that is ‘bright, bold, robust and with a sense of fun and a sense of humour’, says Marking Design client director Atoosa Afshar. ‘The challenge is to create a salon that is all embracing.’

Marking Design will create the exterior and interior concept, staff uniforms and literature for the brand. Marking Design founder Giles Marking believes that the departure from minimalist interiors provides an atmosphere that is ‘not so intimidating’.

‘Younger generations are much less male/ female in terms of fashion stores,’ says Marking. ‘This is just one more of the differences of being unisex.’

Pinks & Toots will open its first 23m2 outlet in spring 2004 in a major shopping centre in the south-east. If successful, further salons will open across the country.
