Five Foot Six in twin task for Digit

London-based graphics and branding group Five Foot Six has created the identity for start-up Digit – an encoding studio which digitises film and music – and is working on its website.

Five Foot Six was appointed in October following a two-way creative competitive pitch against one other group.

Given an open brief, the consultancy made a proposal to address the look and feel from scratch, creating a logo, brand colours and tone of voice.

Five Foot Six commissioned photographer Paul Thompson to take pictures of twins, which, coupled with the tagline ‘More than a duplicate’, indicate that Digit’s work goes beyond duplicity, according to Five Foot Six partner Algy Batten.

This theme will be rolled out across all stationery – letterheads, business cards and a company brochure – and a website. ‘Giant versions of the pictures will even be hung outfacing on the windows of Digit’s offices,’ says Batten.

Digit managing director Daniel Gould says, ‘It was important that we weren’t seen as geeky.’

Five Foot Six is working on a website for Digit, which will go live in January. Batten says, ‘The website will be quite informal, like an online brochure. The idea is to create strong branding through the photography.’ A holding page will be in place until the launch.

The new identity will first be seen on Christmas cards.
