The Works sets the tune for Russian National Orchestra event

The Works is set to unveil branding and promotional visual communications for the Russian National Orchestra’s first-ever music festival in Moscow next year.

The Leeds consultancy is putting the finishing touches to design elements and master artwork for the First Festival of the Russian National Orchestra, to be held from 7-13 September at the Bolshoi Theatre.

The Works creative director Dave Gledhill explains that the consultancy was invited to take on the project in July, the client having seen its work for the Uefa Champions League final, also held in Moscow.

The brief, says Gledhill, was fairly open. ‘We were told that we would be looking at branding a new international festival in Moscow, initially coming up with an event identity and roll-out, reflecting that it would have a world-class orchestra and a top conductor.’

With the branding, Moscow’s iconic buildings sit alongside towering musical instruments, suggesting the power of the music. Each image is constructed from musical notations and Russian words, evoking the orchestra’s heritage.
