Scottish water boards provide source of work

Water is cleaning up its image in Scotland with three newly formed water boards ordering new identities. Two are by Tayburn McIlroy Coates and the third is by Blue Peach. Scotland previously had 12 water boards.

Tayburn McIlroy Coates is designing identities for East of Scotland Water and North of Scotland Water. It won both in credentials pitches. Blue Peach won a credentials pitch for West of Scotland Water.

“Tayburn McIlroy Coates originally competed against six consultancies, then won against two others in a final shortlist,” says East of Scotland chief executive Alistair Findlay. He is unable to reveal the identity of the unsuccessful participants.

According to Tayburn McIlroy Coates creative director Andrew Hunter, the East of Scotland image is “dynamic and very visible, so people realise there is a new authority they can turn to”.

Blue Peach is currently developing a concept originally designed in-house, according to West of Scotland’s customer services development manager Tom McClements.

East and West of Scotland’s images will be officially unveiled in February, while North of Scotland’s is due in March.
