These two characters are none other than Jeff Woolnough and John French of QED. What they are up to is beyond us.
They happen to be at the ambassador’s reception, which was a fancy dress do to raise money for freelance designer Phil Clements’ son Jack, whose autism necessitates an expensive visit to the US.
But Jeff and John seem to have made their dress a little too fancy. That is, unless it’s de rigueur for a Japanese diplomat to be diplomatic with a knife through his head. Whatever, QED’s delegation takes the biscuit or wins the prize, whichever you prefer.
The next event in the 52 000 appeal is a treasure hunt this
Saturday, followed by an Eighties night called Favourite Shirts on 2 August. Be warned, the New Romantics will be out in force (and there are plenty of those in design’s greying generation).
