Pub design entries slated

Judges in the English Heritage Pub Design Awards have criticised the standard of entries and have made an unprecedented call for more applicants, despite receiving the same number as last year.

“There is a large gap between the number of new-build pubs and the conversions to pub use, and the number of entries we received,” says chairman of judges Sean Murphy.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which has so far received around 100 entries, has now pushed back the deadline to the first week of September.
