Maher the Bookseller is to open a second store with interiors and graphic identity by Rodney Fitch Design Consultants.

The second store is due to open in September at an undisclosed site, and the company is “looking to establish a chain of 150 stores in the long-term”, says director Tony Maher, former general manager of the flagship Dillons store in Birmingham.

Maher the Bookseller is a venture by Tony and his brother Terry Maher, founder and chairman of the now collapsed Pentos group which owned Dillons.

The first store opened in November in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, and a third site is expected to be named by the end of the year. Rodney Fitch worked with the Maher brothers on the Dillons brand.
