Tango creative starts new group

Tango Design’s managing and creative director David Palmer left the consultancy last week after eight years to launch his own integrated design and advertising consultancy called BC3.

BC3, which stands for Brand and Corporate Communications Consultancy, will offer brand-owners a mix of design and advertising, says Palmer.

The creative director role at Tango is being taken by Peter Rae, who joins from Design House, where he was creative director. Design House expects to fill his post within days. The managing director role at Tango is not being filled at present, but an internal promotion is possible.

Palmer will visit the US next week to try to sign up BC3’s first client. He will begin to staff BC3 once the first client is in the bag, he says. If successful, Palmer aims to build BC3 towards a size similar to the 16-strong Tango Design. “It’s a nice size,” he says.

Speaking of his decision to leave Tango, which was set up and is still owned by advertising group Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Palmer says: “I have no gripes at all with either Tango or BBH. They’ve both been brilliant, but this is something I want to do.”

Palmer says BC3 will offer clients an analysis of their brands followed by appropriate design and/or advertising, ranging from above-the-line advertisements to packaging design.
