Spencer Landor logo for Royal Exchange

Manchester performance complex The Royal Exchange Theatre will unveil its new identity, created by Spencer Landor, when it opens on Monday.

The theatre was destroyed when the IRA bombed Manchester city centre more than two years ago.

It will open for performances in October and will be the focal point of a broader arts complex, including a café and a craft shop.

The new logo represents the entire venue, designed by architect Levitt Bernstein.

“The audience sits all around the stage and the identity is intended to reflect the intimacy between the audience and the actors. The loops overlap to convey the excitement and energy of the performance,” says Spencer Landor creative partner John Spencer.

The marque will be applied to signage, livery, stationery, merchandise and shop facias.
