Illuminate the different light design disciplines

People who design lights are ‘light designers’ not ‘lighting’ as you had it in your feature. After all, you wouldn’t refer to people who design tables and chairs as ‘furnituring designers’ you simply call them ‘furniture designers’.

The term ‘lighting designer’ is reserved for those who create lighting solutions for interior or exterior spaces. These particular designers specialise in the lighting part of interior design.

It’s picky, I know, but perhaps people would stop thinking my company made or sold lampshades. We are a lighting design consultancy, and we no more sell lampshades than interior design consultancies sell flooring.

Both light designers and lighting designers are important, but it is also important not to get them confused with each other.
