Cash prizes for Disney ideas

The Walt Disney Company is collaborating with the graphics department at Central St Martins to develop ideas around its cartoon characters. Prizes include possible implementation of the winning idea, £1500 cash and a visit to Disney’s California studios.

Final-year students have been asked to develop products that capture the spirit of six characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto. Judges include The Body Shop head of global design Jon Turner, Michael Wolff of The Fourth Room, Disney design head Nicole Carter and Tom Roope of Tomato Interactive.

Judging is in association with Design Week, which will publish the ideas on 16 June.

The work will also form part of the Central St Martins Final Show, from 19 June at Southampton Row in central London.
