Philadelphia-based digital product design group Electronic Ink is planning to open a European headquarters in London.

A spokeswoman confirms that the consultancy is looking at office space in the capital, but no deal has been finalised. It is not known how the UK business will be structured.

In the US, the New York Stock Exchange has just appointed Electronic Ink to redesign its video display content.

Four trading screens have been commissioned to display trading information on the NYSE trading floor, and the consultancy will be producing information content for the 4m x 5m video screens.

The task is to design a representation of changing market conditions through visual and numerical information. This will include breaking business news, currency and exchange rate movements, and market indices.

“Because the NYSE personnel operate in a fast-paced, technologically driven, multi-task atmosphere, information must be presented in such a way that it can be readily accessed, categorised and processed,” says Electronic Ink chief executive officer Harold Hambrose.
