Luxury retailer Hermès is putting the finishing touches to its UK head office, designed by Blacksheep, located above the existing flagship store on London’s New Bond Street.

The consultancy was appointed in January following a competitive pitch with a brief to devise ‘chic, modern, simple, functional and high-quality offices’.

The 400m2 headquarters will have two main features: an interior courtyard with a mini-boulevard design and a specially created showroom designed by Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure. The project was ‘fast-tracked’ in order to re-house all the staff from the existing headquarters in Sloane Street as quickly as possible.

RDAI also designed a shop extension on the first floor of the same Time-Life building. It opened last week to the public.

Blacksheep director Tim Mutton says, ‘Our design approach was to work creatively with the elegance and established material quality of the Hermès brand and the Time-Life building. Overall, the look is muted and calming.’
