Design Museum director Alice Rawsthorn’s plans for more ‘cerebral’ exhibitions have been dealt a blow with the cancellation of two high-profile shows.
The museum’s Galliano and Saul Bass shows have been cancelled and postponed respectively. Ben Kelly Design is instead creating an Internet design exhibition, Web Wizards, to replace the Galliano event next month.
‘John Galliano at Dior’ has been cancelled following New York’s terrorist attacks. No decision has been taken on whether it will be rescheduled, a museum spokeswoman says.
The Saul Bass film graphics exhibition has been postponed until 2003 to allow curators more time to accumulate the material.
