Design festival

The first London Design Festival runs from 20-28 September.

The Race Forum, part of the British Design & Art Direction President’s Forums taking place on 25 September at 7.15pm, is a talk regarding cultural diversity and why Britain’s multiculturalism isn’t reflected in its creative industries.

From 20-24 September the Royal College of Art’s Helen Hamlyn Research Centre will be showing Design for our Future Selves, an exhibition of socially aware projects by recent graduates.

Venue: RCA, Kensington Gore, London SW7.

Alongside Design for our Future Selves, Icons on Icon, photographic portraits by Phil Sayer, will also show. More than 30 leaders from design, architecture, literature, film, advertising, fashion, entertainment, media and sport were asked to choose icons special to them.

Inside Out, chaired by Frances Sorrell, is a discussion between architect Piers Gough, interior designer Kelly Hoppen and landscape designer Dan Pearson about how their disciplines can collaborate, co-operate, inspire each other and fall out. It takes place on 22 September from 6.30pm.
