UK body gives aid to Slovakia

UK body Design For Transformation has restructured the Slovak Design Centre to operate better as the newly independent country faces issues such as privatisation.

“The SDC could play a crucial role in helping to develop products and services to international standards,” says Chris Spencer at DFT.

Gerrard & Medd director David Gerrard, who undertook the project with Spencer, adds: “There is scope for the SDC to become a catalyst for development through design”.

Zdenka Burianov continues as director of the 13-strong centre and contact with the UK will be strengthened.

“The SDC is looking to the UK as a new source of expertise,” says Gerrard.
