Double fault of clichés has got some balls

My attention was drawn to the humorous Design Week diary having a pop at The Workroom for its use of cliché in the article Knob that opens doors to new opportunities (DW 12 July).

My attention was drawn to the humorous Design Week diary having a pop at The Workroom for its use of cliché in the article Knob that opens doors to new opportunities (DW 12 July).

In the same issue, DW’s own subscription card insert was touting for subscribers with a picture of a triumphant tennis player [in timing with Wimbledon] and the line “give yourself the advantage…”. The second part of the insert showed a mountaineer silhouetted in the sunset atop a lofty peak. This classic image bore the heading “want to reach the top…”.

Despite laborious searching, I could not find a picture of either a practicing preacher, or a kettle and a black pot to submit with this letter.
