The Identica Partnership launches ICO

Ico, a new telecommunications company providing a global hand-held mobile telephone service, has been launched with its name and corporate identity created by The Identica Partnership.

Led by satellite communications giant Inmarsat, Ico aims to have its satellite-linked service running by the year 2000.

Brought in last year to devise a name and then design the identity, The Identica Partnership has also implemented the identity in a range of uses, including literature for Ico’s launch at the Telecom 95 show held in Geneva, Switzerland, last week.

The Identica Partnership’s corporate identity partner Felicity Hunt says the Ico name “had to be suitable for use around the world – it had to be short, easy to say and easy to remember”.

The 3800m2 British Pavilion at Telecom 95, and 15 stands within it, were designed by London group H&P Design Associates. Client FEI, the UK electronics industry’s trade body, has retained H&P to design its exhibitions during 1996.
