Boots forms brand strategy with WPP

Boots The Chemists has announced an £80m strategic agreement with the WPP Group, which includes design consultancies Enterprise IG and Landor Associates, to develop the Boots brand and expand into the alternative health sector.

“We aim to send out more consistent messages about the Boots brand,” says Boots head of corporate brand management, Neville Wells. The deal does not exclude non-WPP design groups working in the future with Boots, says Wells, and will not affect its relationships with consultants such as Pentagram’s John McConnell.

The deal centres around its consumer advertising, handled by WPP agency J Walter Thompson, with Mindshare, the UK media buyer and planner – an account worth £60m.
