Quantel similarities are a coincidence

Michael Johnson’s letter last week (DW 13 October) implies that our work for Quantel, of which the design of the symbol is only a small part, was developed from his earlier visuals.

I accepted the brief from Quantel on the strict understanding that we did not see or have knowledge of any earlier work presented for Quantel’s new identity.

We did not, until his letter last week, see any of the previously submitted visuals and, while we at Roundel have great respect for Johnson’s work, we do not believe Roundel needs to resort to copying him.
