UK sends four into Euro pitch

Four UK bodies and companies have submitted design proposals for the European single currency to the European Monetary Institute.

The Bank of England was asked by the EMI to nominate three banknote designers. The bank itself submitted an in-house design, and commissioned designs from Komori Currency Technology and high-security printing company

Harrison & Sons. Security printer De La Rue has also designed an entry in-house, sponsored by the Luxembourg Central Bank.

An EMI jury is expected to form a shortlist by the end of this year.
