Witness all the write moves from roadside hero

“He was really fantastic, very fab, just so brilliant,” gushes a journalist from ad mag Campaign of Newell and Sorrell managing director Simon Jones.

But then it might have been something to do with the circumstances of their meeting.

The journo, Jane Austin, was tootling along the A3 when a drunk-as-a-skunk driver drove into the back of her car, writing it off. He then scarpered while Jane, understandably shaken, was in no position to see his number plate.

Distressed Jane then spied a waving man on a slip road. As she tells it: “He said: ‘I got the registration and everything. Call the police on my mobile. Here’s my card’.”

She continues: “I said ‘Newell and Sorrell – I love your work and your lectures’. He was a typical graphics man – he’d written everything down with a really nice pencil.”
