The 2002 FIFA World Cup is expected to bring stardom to a group of animated mascots. The characters appearing in an animated film, created by Interbrand in Korea and Japan, will replace the single mascots normally used for such sporting tournaments.

FIFA general secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen says, ‘Mascots for our events have evolved over the years, but this is a giant leap into the future.’
