France’s third largest retailer, Casino, is to open petrol stations at its hypermarket chain Gant. Forecourt and identity design is by Crabtree Hall/Plan Cratif.
A typical station will have 15 pumps with fully automated 24 hours credit-card pay points. “The curved uplift canopy provides a cost-effective cover and a distinctive identification for the new forecourts,” says a consultancy spokeswoman.
According to the spokeswoman, French multiple food retailers already have a 47 per cent share of the petrol market and Gant’s decision “confirms moves to further increase this share”.
The first forecourt, which has already been built, is due to open in the next few weeks. The company plans to open 20 forecourts during the next two years.
