Parkview commissions Tahara installation for Beijing Olympics

Parkview International, the developer behind the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, has commissioned Japanese designer Keiichi Tahara to create a series of light installations for its Green Plaza complex in Beijing.

Tahara, who specialises in light installations and photography, will draw up design concepts for the installations in time for a first phase presentation in February, according to a spokeswoman for Tahara’s consultancy.

The intention is to install the lighting systems and dress the complex in time for the Olympics in 2008.

Tahara is also embarking on the next phase of his lighting masterplan for Battersea Power Station and its 15 ha site.

The scheme will be divided into three areas: artistic lighting, landscape and building lighting and functional lighting (DW 25 August 2005).
