Baigent Digital has created branding and a website for The Apollo Legacy, a documentary project dedicated to telling the stories of the moon landings.
Baigent was appointed to work on The Apollo Legacy project by science documentary group Scidox in October last year, at the same time the consultancy was commissioned to work on the group’s identity.
Baigent creative director Steven Ramsay says, ’We were briefed to design a site that reflected the epic, cinematic feel of Scidox’s film In the Shadow of the Moon, but create a legacy for it in a digital context.’
The initial idea for the branding featured a crescent moon silhouette instead of the name’s ’o’, but, while the client liked the use of the ’o’, it was thought to be too delicate.
Instead, Baigent created a strong lens effect around the ’o’, echoing a particularly inspiring moment in the film when the astronauts look through the shuttle window and see the sun rise from behind the earth, says Ramsay.
