NatWest Plc banks on Ingleton Thomas logo

Corporate identity consultantancy Ingleton Thomas has designed a logotype for National Westminster Bank plc to differentiate it from its high street bank.

The holding company has been renamed NatWest Group. It describes itself as “an international portfolio of businesses providing a broad spectrum of financial services”.

NatWest Group director of corporate affairs Simon Lewis says of the change: “It is a clarification exercise to emphasise we are much more than just a high street presence.”

Consultancy managing director Stephen Thomas says: “It is a very simple logotype. Within the group there are already a number of strong identities.

“It is the communication of the name that is important and not strong graphics,” he adds.

Ingleton Thomas has worked for the holding company for the past three years.

The new identity, appearing in deep blue with a burgundy underline, will appear on stationery and on the floor of lobby areas at two head offices.

* The Partners is designing NatWest Group’s annual review for shareholders which will be launched at the end of March.
