Autocar, the Haymarket motoring weekly, has unveiled a new front cover with design work by Pentagram.

The magazine, which is 101-years-old this year, features a new black-on-yellow logo by Pentagram and restyled pages, designed by the magazine’s in-house team.

“Autocar is a strong brand and we’ve created a logo which stands out with authority,” says Pentagram partner David Hillman. “The o in the middle of Autocar was a gift to us, so we used it to introduce the distinctive wheel motif.”

Pentagram design manager Simon Patterson adds: “We wanted to move away from colours and fussy covers which seem to be the trend, and create something which was simple, contemporary and appropriate for the car design market.”
