Tourist board takes on 999

Design has been booked by the Scottish Tourist Board to design its 1997 guide. The Glasgow consultancy triumphed in a four-way unpaid creative pitch against three Edinburgh groups.

In what was a “very tight decision”, according to STB production manager Colin Arthur, 999 Design “had the creative edge”.

The three losing teams are believed to be the incumbent Graphic Partners, Tayburn McIlroy Coates and Shaw Marketing and Design.

999 Design director Richard Bissland says he is delighted to have won, but adds: “Our general policy is not to free-pitch, but when other major consultancies are doing so for such a prestigious job, we have no option.”
