Bangladeshi army digs earth moving design

We know the power of design, but can it move mountains?

London consultancy Design Distillery received an urgent order last week from the intriguingly named Friends Trade International – supplier to the Bangladeshi Army – for a selection of heavy duty diggers, including Asphalt Paver Machines (2) and Truck Dumpers (10).

‘We, Messars FTI, is an efficient trading house,’ read the quirky English e-mail received by the group, ‘and came across your address from the British embassy in Dhaka that you are dealing earth-moving equipment.’

Design Distillery managing director Leslie Millard replied: ‘We have received your e-mail. However, we are earth-moving graphic designers, not suppliers of earth-moving equipment.’
