Garrett made RCA professor

AMX founder Malcolm Garrett has been appointed visiting professor to the communication art and design department at the Royal College of Art.

He starts the part-time role today, working for Professor Dan Fern, RCA head of the School of Communications, and alongside in-coming visiting professor, the Dutch designer Gert Dumbar. Garrett will have particular responsibility for interactive communications.

Garrett hopes to broaden his role at the RCA to bring in the AMX team to reflect the industry’s move towards convergence. “I’ll be the figurehead, but I’d like to bring the whole of AMX to bear on the course as it [communication design] is not a solo profession,” he says.
