New Nonconform face for Everyman Playhouse

The Everyman Liverpool Playhouse, the Merseyside theatres that over the years have hosted big British names such as Alan Bleasdale, Tracey Ullman and Pete Postlethwaite, is to launch its new identity next month, created by Liverpool design consultancy Nonconform.

Following a creative pitch, Nonconform has been asked to represent both theatres in a single identity but, according to creative director Jon Barraclough, the real task was “to express a relationship between the two theatres, while at the same time making sure that followers of the two companies could still identify them as separate venues.”

The theatre group was formed following the creation in April of a holding company, the Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust, to generate investment for the venues, both of which have struggled financially for many years. The Playhouse has been standing empty for nearly three years and the first phase of an on-going refurbishment that could eventually see £7m invested is underway, with the reopening earmarked for December.

The new identity work includes a fresh logo, front of house staff clothing, signage, brochures and poster work.
