Airside refreshes deluxe pastry chain Konditor & Cook

Konditor & Cook, the upmarket London cake and patisserie chain, has appointed Airside to revamp its brand identity as it prepares to open a flagship store at the Foster & Partners-designed Swiss Re ‘Gherkin’ building.

The revised brand identity will launch next year and will be applied to the company’s website, product packaging and marketing materials. Airside is working up design concepts at the moment and the identity is likely to be more of a refresh than a complete overhaul of the existing identity, says Airside project manager Sibylle Preuss.

Airside was appointed to the wider branding project following a commission to design window displays for the flagship outlet at the Gherkin. The displays are designed to cover the entire window, obscuring the building work that will be taking place inside the store as it is fitted out. The flagship store is being designed by Jamie Fobert Architects.

Konditor & Cook opened its first ‘cocktails and cakes’ café bar in Soho last year with an identity, graphics and merchandising material created by HMKM. The interior design was by designer Suzy Hoodless (DW 14 July 2005). The company was formed in 1993.
